چکیده
The relative allocation of energy organisms devote to reproductive processes (aka effort) constitutes a central topic in life history theory. We document some aspects the ecology and investment 2 viviparous skinks genus Plestiodon from Mexico: an undescribed species previously assigned P. brevirostris(Plestiodon sp., La Malinche, Tlaxcala, 2,700-3,000 m) dugesii (2 populations, Mazamitla Tapalpa, Jalisco; 2,400-2,500 m). used litter mass (RLM) as measure effort calculated body condition index (BCI) proxy status non-pregnant females, post-parturient neonates. There were no differences any characteristics between populations dugesii. Both lacked sexual size dimorphism, female did not influence RLM, nor mass. However, BCI influenced RLM and, dugesii, larger correlated with lower Despite their overall similarities investment, there seem be differential selective pressures shaping offspring these lizard species.

Molecular phylogenetics of Malagasy skinks (Squamata: Scincidae)
—Malagasy skinks are a poorly known group, and their relationships have not been critically evaluated previously. In this paper we present a phylogeny of Malagasy “scincine” lizards, based on quantitative phylogenetic analysis of data from seven molecular markers. Our analysis confirms the paraphyly of “Amphiglossus”, and supports Madascincus as a valid genus. Pygomeles is sister to three group...
متن کاملNew provincial records of skinks (Squamata: Scincidae) from northwestern Vietnam
We report six new records of skinks from northwestern Vietnam: Eutropis macularius, Scincelladevorator , S.monticola, S.ochracea, Sphenomorphuscryptotis and S.indicus. Our new findings increase the species number of skinks (Scincidae) to nine in Dien Bien Province and to 14 in Son La Province. We also provide additional natural history data of aforementioned species.
متن کاملMolecular evidence for hybridization between two Australian desert skinks, Ctenotus leonhardii and Ctenotus quattuordecimlineatus (Scincidae: Squamata).
Australian scincid lizards in the genus Ctenotus constitute the most diverse vertebrate radiation in Australia. However, the evolutionary processes that have generated this diversity remain elusive, in part because both interspecific phylogenetic relationships and phylogeographic structure within Ctenotus species remain poorly known. Here we use nucleotide sequences from a mitochondrial locus a...
متن کاملAdditions to Philippine Slender Skinks of the Brachymeles bonitae Complex (Reptilia: Squamata: Scincidae) III: a new species from Tablas Island.
Studies of the diversity of Philippine amphibians and reptiles have resulted in the continued description of cryptic species. Species formerly thought to range across multiple recognized faunal regions are now considered to be assemblages of multiple unique species, each restricted to a single faunal region. This pattern continues to hold true when considering Philippine skinks of the genus Bra...
متن کاملDNA barcoding assessment of genetic variation in two widespread skinks from Madagascar, Trachylepis elegans and T. gravenhorstii (Squamata: Scincidae).
Trachylepis elegans and T. gravenhorstii are two of the most widespread reptiles in Madagascar, inhabiting a wide variety of habitats. Previous studies have indicated a considerable mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) variation within these species, but the geographic distribution of the major haplotype lineages is poorly known. Herein we analyse the phylogeography of these lizards based on 107 sequences...
